Aromatherapy Properties:Stress-relieving, calming. Both uplifting and grounding, like so many of our wonderful Essential Oils. Said to clear mental confusion and clarify thought processes.
Suggested Use:Add 9 drops to 1oz. of unscented body or hair care product to enhance their properties. Great for toning treatments and hair care. However, since dosing too high can result in sensitization, you may want to consider using Aromaland's Rosemary & Mint body care products or Bay Laurel & Mint Foot & Leg Lotion, which already contain Bay Laurel in their Essential Oil Blend.
You can use this oil for cooking, in any recipe that calls for the dried leaves. Since one drop represents the Essential Oil of an entire handful of leaves, make sure you blend it with a Carrier Oil prior to using in the kitchen; Olive, Canola or Grapeseed Oil are great choices (3 drops per 1oz. of Carrier Oil).
History:Bay Laurels were once used to crown Greek scholars, which is the historic background of the academic "baccalaureate" title. They were also used to adorn the victors in ancient Greece and Rome. The priestesses at Delphi sat over the burning fumes of Bay Laurels to increase their prophetic visions.
Commonly used as a food flavoring in stews, pickles, sauces etc.
Specific Safety Information:No known toxicity, non-irritant, causes sensitization in some people if used in high concentration. Use in moderation due to the narcotic properties of its main ingredient, methyl eugenol. Avoid in pregnancy and use very diluted only.
